JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department congratulated a Good Samaritan who helped rescue a truck driver Tuesday on I-295 at Alta Drive.
JFRD tweeted at 12:30 p.m. that both the on-ramp and off-ramp of Alta Drive were completely shut down after a semi-truck hauling a roll-off dumpster overturned.
The Florida State Highway Patrol said one of the truck's tires went down, causing the truck to overturn and catch fire.
According to the JFRD, a bystander saw the crash and jumped into action, pulling the driver from the vehicle before it was fully engulfed in flames.
First responders took the driver to the hospital with serious injuries.
