Several injured, 2 in critical condition after van overturns on I-75

A blown tire caused a van to overturn on I-75, injuring several people and shutting down traffic for hours.

A person was airlifted to a hospital and several others were injured Saturday after a blown tire caused a van to overturn on I-75, shutting down traffic for hours.

Florida Highway Patrol was called to I-75 Southbound in Alachua County at 12:19 p.m.

FHP says the van's driver, Janice Daniels, lost control due to a blown left rear tire.

The failed tire caused the van, which was carrying seven other passengers, to leave the roadway, strike a guardrail, and roll multiple times, FHP says.

One passenger was ejected and later airlifted with critical injuries to UF Health Shands.

Another passenger was also hospitalized in critical condition.

The driver and all other occupants were rushed to local hospitals via ambulance, according to FHP.

The victims range in ages from 37 to 55 years old.

Traffic on I-75 was shut down for hours while FHP investigated the crash. All lanes have since reopened.
