Pedestrian ID'd after being killed by vehicle in St. Augustine

The Florida Highway Patrol said 87-year-old Alwin Hoffmann was struck and killed on State Road 16 at Fortner Road around 10:26 p.m.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle in St. Augustine on Saturday has been identified.

The Florida Highway Patrol said 87-year-old Alwin Hoffmann was struck and killed on State Road 16 at Fortner Road around 10:26 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Autumn Kinser, was driving eastbound on SR-16 in the outside lane. Hoffman had been standing in the eastbound outside lane when Kinser collided with him, FHP said.

FHP said earlier, Hoffman was involved in an unrelated minor crash in the westbound lanes of SR-16.

For unknown reasons, Hoffman walked away from the earlier crash and into the eastbound lane where he was struck, the report states.

No other information was released.
