A pedestrian was struck and killed by a semi-truck on Interstate-95 Northbound near Downtown Jacksonville Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at approximately 5 a.m. on I-95 Northbound south of Union Street.
A semi-truck was traveling in the right lane when a pedestrian walked from the right shoulder into the path of the semi-truck, according to FHP.
FHP said that the right side of the front bumper of the semi-truck collided with the pedestrian, making the pedestrian go back towards the right shoulder. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured and is cooperating as the incident is investigated, FHP said.
The identity of the pedestrian has not yet been released.
