UPDATE: Dec. 5 | Detours are planned starting Thursday for McCormick Road while crews repair the road following a water main break last week.
F-DOT crews will begin work Thursday morning until Monday, December 10 to repair the roadway.
A stretch of McCormick Road in East Arlington reopened Saturday night after a water main break prompted it to shut down, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
Both eastbound and westbound lanes of McCormick Road were closed Friday from Monument Road to Running River Road along with the intersection of Monument Road and McCormick Road. The roads finally reopened Saturday at 8 p.m.
The 20-inch water main break happened after a contractor for Verizon hit a pipe, according to JEA., who was called to the scene to isolate the problem.
Zena Velic, owner of Bambino's Scoops, off McCormick, said the traffic throughout the afternoon kept customers away.
Residences in the area experienced low water pressure due to the break. "Ever since I got up today it's just been non-stop traffic flowing through here right in front of our house," said Dylan Byrnes, who lives nearby.
FDOT will work with Verizon for additional road repairs at a later date.
