A head-on collision in Fleming Island shut down all southbound lanes of US-17 Wednesday night.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a GMC Sierra was traveling northbound on US-17 while a Chevy Silverado was traveling southbound. Troopers say the Sierra lost control and crossed into the southbound lanes, colliding with the front of the Chevy pickup head-on.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the driver of the Sierra was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and two people in the Silverado were taken with critical injuries.
Lanes of US-17 have since reopened.
