An infant has died after a multi-car crash shut down traffic in Orange Park Sunday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The baby was rushed to the hospital in life-threatening condition after the crash.

All lanes on Blanding Boulevard and College Drive have reopened after they were blocked for hours by the five-car crash, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

FHP says the crash happened at 4:44 p.m. when a Jeep Limited traveling southbound on Blanding Boulevard struck a Kia Soul carrying infant Sophi'Leon Friesenhahn. The infant was in a car seat at the time of the crash and the car was stopped at a red light at the time of the crash.

The collision caused a domino effect, and the Kia Soul slammed into the back of a Toyota Camry and sideswipe another Camry, which were both stopped at a red light. FHP says.

The sideswiped Camry then struck a Chevrolet Sonic that was also stopped at the light.

The crash caused the vehicles to block the southbound lanes of Blanding Boulevard, stalling traffic for hours.

Five other patients were transported to local hospitals with minor or no injuries, the FHP report says.
