2 bicyclists killed in Bartram Springs hit-and run

The vehicle, a 2016 Hyundai Azera, was recovered at a home by the police but the occupants of the vehicle were not home.

A vehicle believed to be involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash that left two bicyclists dead was recovered Saturday night, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said a black 2016 Hyundai Azera driven by a man with an orange shirt hit two bicyclists traveling along Racetrack Road near Bartram Springs Parkway at around 10 a.m.

The car was then seen continuing westbound on Racetrack Road with front end damage, deputies said.

Both bicyclists were pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies are working to identify these victims and further information has not been released.

As of 11:04 p.m. the vehicle has been recovered at a home but the occupants of the vehicle were not home.

Racetrack Road was closed in both directions from US-1 North to Bartram Springs Parkway at the start of the investigation but has since reopened as of 5:23 p.m., according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies are asking anyone with information related to this incident to contact the sheriff's office.
