Clay County deputy-involved crash temporarily shuts down SB lanes of US-17

The Clay County Sheriff's Office said the deputy suffered from minor injuries but is expected to be ok.

A Clay County Sheriff's deputy is expected to be ok after being involved in a crash that temporarily shut down the southbound lanes of US-17 south of Village Square Parkway early Friday morning, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported the crash around 4:11 a.m. Lanes were reported back up after 7:30 a.m.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office said the deputy suffered from minor injuries but is expected to be ok.

Its deputies responded to the scene assisting FHP.

Former First Coast News reporter, Lisa Robbins, told First Coast News that "it looked like the hood of the car is stuck under the back of the box truck."

Our traffic anchor Katie Jeffries says drivers were being rerouted to Village Square Parkway to Town Center Boulevard. Lanes were reopened around 7:30 a.m.
