The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) responded to a crash in Nassau County on Thursday that killed a 58-year-old man.

Troopers say the head-on crash happened around 12:30 a.m on Lem Turner Road and Spring Lake Drive. FHP says that Donald Francis Lewis was killed when another vehicle, traveling northbound, traveled into the southbound lane that he was in, striking him head-on.

Both drivers were transported to UF Health on 8th Street but unfortunately, Lewis succumbed to his injuries. 

Troopers say charges are pending at this time.

This is the second fatal accident on Lem Turner in less than two days.

In just over four years, there have been 93 crashes in about 1.5 mile stretch of Lem Turner from Terrell Road to I-295, in NW Jax. 82 people have been injured in these crashes.
