1 seriously injured in crash involving Clay County Fire Rescue

Drivers are urged to avoid the area and take an alternate route.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — One person was critically injured in a crash involving a Clay County fire truck Wednesday evening.

The crash happened at County Road 218 and Hibiscus Avenue at about 5:45 p.m.

A Dodge pickup was traveling north on Hibiscus Ave. when it failed to yield to an eastbound fire truck with its lights on traveling on County Road 218. The front of the Dodge hit the side of the fire truck. 

The driver of the Dodge, a 34-year-old man, was ejected from the pickup. First responders rushed him to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

There are no other injuries in the crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
