SpaceX set to complete first Starlink launch of 2021

Tuesday will also mark the company's 17th mission of the constellation of networked satellites.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — The first SpaceX Starlink launch of 2021 is here! The company's 17th mission of the constellation of networked satellites is set to head into space Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 8:23 a.m.

Sixty Starlink satellites will launch atop a Falcon 9 rocket from Kennedy Space Center Launch Complex 39-A.

"The goal of Starlink is to create a network that will help provide internet services to those who are not yet connected and to provide reliable and affordable internet across the globe," according to officials.

SpaceX was initially targeting a Monday launch but moved back a day due to "unfavorable weather conditions in the recovery area."

SpaceX says Falcon 9's first stage, being used in Tuesday's flight has previously supported seven other missions including the launch of Crew Dragon's first demonstration mission in 2019 and the SXM-7 mission in 2020.

You can catch the mission from SpaceX live with coverage starting about 15 minutes prior to liftoff. Or you can tune into 10 Tampa Bay where we will be streaming live on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
