BOCA RATON, Fla. --- The sun and wind were out in full force Thursday as former University Christian star wide receiver Jenson Stoshak hit the field in front of 33 scouts from 26 NFL teams and one CFL squad.
Florida Atlantic University's pro day was among a stretch of workouts for several programs in the Sunshine State this week. While several scouts showed up looking to check out cornerback Cre'von LeBlanc and German wide receiver Moritz Boehringer, Stoshak offered them polished results on the field.
At 6-foot and 199 pounds, Stoshak ran a 4.62-second 40-yard dash twice. The young receiver also had a 6.65-second 3-Cone drill and posted 21 reps on the bench press.
Those results follow a four-year FAU career that saw Stoshak catch 132 passes for 1,885 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
With his dad and brother watching on, Stoshak said he was happy with his performance on Thursday and hopes NFL teams feel the same way.
"I think I did really well," said Stoshak. "I executed everything I wanted to and caught everything thrown my way that I could touch."
Stoshak has been working out in Daytona this offseason in preparation for the draft. His trainer, Duke Rousse, helped him and several other NFL draft hopefuls find their consistency in drills over the last three months.
A Jacksonville native with big dreams, Stoshak hopes to make his way on to an NFL roster this summer.
Thursday served as a great start for that mission as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers approached the prospect with some interest following the workout.
Stoshak plans to return to Jacksonville over the next few weeks. It's been an offseason ironically full of nothing but work for him, so he's looking to return to his hometown for some much-needed family time.
"It's a lot of speed work," said Stoshak, who worked with Rousse and also spent a week in New Orleans training.
His girlfriend is set to graduate from college on April 29, so he will likely be with her during the selection process. That weekend could set the stage for another major milestone for the couple if an NFL team drafts Stoshak or offers him a contract.
