Sharks prevail in overtime for 12th straight win

Jacksonville defeats Massachusetts 54-47

The Jacksonville Sharks won their 12th straight game and their first that required overtime this season, defeating the Massachusetts Pirates 54-47 at Veterans Memorial Arena.

Trailing 17-7 after a quarter, the Sharks rallied to take a narrow, 30-27 lead into half. Tied at 47 with 1 second left in regulation, the Pirates missed a would-be, game-winning field goal to send the game to overtime. Once there, the Sharks got the ball first and capitalized with what would prove to be the game-winning touchdown. The Sharks defense then came up with a game-sealing interception.

Jacksonville has already clinched home-field advantage throughout the National Arena League playoffs. They wrap up the regular season on Saturday, July 27, at home against the Orlando Predators. The Sharks begin postseason play on August 6 at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Arena; their opponent is to be determined.
