The Reese's Senior Bowl is over and the NFL has taken another step closer to this year's draft.
With another notch on the belt of the draft process, let's update the speculation as to how the draft will play out.
You'll notice the Carolina Panthers pick last, as I based the last two selections on regular season records.
Pick No. | Team | Pick | Thoughts |
---|---|---|---|
| Tennessee Titans | Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss | The Titans have to protect Marcus Mariota after he took a beating as a rookie. |
| Cleveland Browns | Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State | Yes, I'm going there. My favorite quarterback prospect in the draft had a terrific Senior Bowl. |
| San Diego Chargers | Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State | The versatile pass rusher will help a defensive that struggled quite a bit in 2015. |
| Dallas Cowboys | Jared Goff, QB, California | The Cowboys likely won't have a better chance of finding a successor for Tony Romo. |
| Jacksonville Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey, FS, Florida State | In this scenario, things work out for the Jaguars as they select a special talent with versatility. |
| Baltimore Ravens | Mackenzie Alexander, CB, Clemson | The Ravens allowed 30 passing touchdowns and created just six interceptions, time to bring in a playmaker. |
| San Francisco 49ers | Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame | With Joe Staley heading into the twilight of his career and numerous openings on the offensive line, Chip Kelly plays it safe. |
| Miami Dolphins | Myles Jack, OLB, UCLA | The Dolphins have a questionable group of starting linebackers and Jack gives them a versatile threat in the middle of the defense. |
| Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Shaq Lawson, DE, Clemson | The Buccaneers long for a legit weakside pass rusher and Lawson may be the team's best bet. |
| New York Giants | Reggie Ragland, LB, Alabama | With Jon Beason nearing the end, it's time to upgrade the linebacker position. Ragland can play all three spots. |
| Chicago Bears | Ezekiel Elliot, RB, Ohio State | The Bears may move on from Matt Forte in the offseason, so adding to their running back group early makes sense. |
| New Orleans Saints | Vernon Hargreaves, CB, Florida | The Saints have been historically awful against the pass for a while now, so they may want to take a hint and draft a talented defensive back. |
| Philadelphia Eagles | Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis | Even if Sam Bradford doesn't walk in free agency, it's time for the Eagles to take a leap of faith and develop a quarterback for the future. |
| Oakland Raiders | Noah Spence, DE/OLB, Eastern Kentucky | Despite his off-the-field concerns, Spence would be a promising pass rusher to pair with Khalil Mack. |
| Los Angeles Rams | Darron Lee, LB, Ohio State | After years of investing in the trenches, the Rams give their defensive line some support. |
| Detroit Lions | Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss | The board works out nicely for the Lions, who are reportedly losing Calvin Johnson to retirement. |
| Atlanta Falcons | DeForest Buckner, DE, Oregon | Buckner would be an easy upgrade over Tyson Jackson and Adrian Clayborn along the Falcons defensive line, offering upside as a pass rusher. |
| Indianapolis Colts | A'Shawn Robinson, DT, Alabama | The Colts need a lot of help upfront on defense and Robinson could be a step in the right direction. |
| Buffalo Bills | Robert Nkemdiche, DT, Ole Miss | While some off the field stuff has come to light recently, Nkemdiche is very talented and could help improve the Bills front. |
| New York Jets | Taylor Decker, OT, Ohio State | D'Brickashaw Ferguson is heading towards the end of his career and the Jets have to continue to add to talent to their offensive line. |
| Washington Redskins | Corey Coleman, WR, Baylor | Looking like they're "all in" on Kirk Cousins, the Redskins would do well set him up with some more weapons on offense. |
| Houston Texans | Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State | The playoffs proved Brian Hoyer isn't "The Guy" so the Texans need to find that dude before it's too late. |
| Minnesota Vikings | Jaylon Smith, OLB, Notre Dame | The Vikings defense is already awesome so this is a pick for the future, Smith is coming off ACL surgery but could be Chad Greenway's heir. |
| Cincinnati Bengals | Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor | The Bengals have some long-in-the-tooth linemen on defense and this is a good draft to replenish that unit. |
| Pittsburgh Steelers | Leonard Floyd, OLB, Georgia | Another year, another Plan A against bringing back James Harrison. |
| Seattle Seahawks | Jack Conklin, OT, Michigan State | With Russell Okung possibly hitting free agency and Russell Wilson taking a lot of hits this season, adding reinforcements is wise. |
| Green Bay Packers | Jarran Reed, DT, Alabama | The big man could be a key coy for the Packers if they move on from B.J. Raji. |
| Kansas City Chiefs | Tyler Boyd, WR, Pittsburgh | Some may view this as a reach but Boyd definitely has the talent to make the Chiefs passing game head to new heights. |
| Arizona Cardinals | Sheldon Rankins, DT, Louisville | Rankins raised some eye brows during Senior Bowl week and could be an interesting curveball to deploy in the Cardinals defensive front. |
| Denver Broncos | Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Oregon State | The Broncos run the risk of losing several talented defenders this season, including Malik Jackson. Ogbah could be his replacement. |
| Carolina Panthers | Will Fuller, WR, Notre Dame | The Panthers have gotten by with less than stellar talent at wide receiver. Imagine their dominance with Fuller and the return of Kelvin Benjamin. |
