Jaguars News: Ramsey, Hurns continue to miss practice, Lee returns

The Jaguars were without two starters at practice Thursday.

The Jaguars practiced inside the team's flex field Thursday as chilly weather and light rain hit the First Coast.

Cornerback Jalen Ramsey (hamstring) and wide receiver Allen Hurns (ankle) missed their second-straight practice this week. Wide receiver Marqise Lee (knee) was able to return for the session.

Ramsey suffered a hamstring injury during the Week 13 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Hurns has been held out of action since Week 11.

Lee has bounced on-and-off the injury report for several weeks but has yet to miss a game.

Lee, defensive end Calais Campbell (wrist), cornerback Aaron Colvin (elbow), guards Patrick Omameh (quad) and Chris Reed (knee) and linebacker Paul Posluszny (groin) were limited participants during the workout.

Campbell, Colvin, Omameh and Reed were listed as limited participants in the previous practice as well. Posluszny was a new addition to the injury report.

Linebacker Telvin Smith and offensive tackle Josh Wells are still in the league's concussion protocol. However, the pair practiced in a full capacity Thursday.

QUICK HITS

- NFL spokesman Michael Signora on why the Jaguars-Seahawks game was moved to a later time:

The game was flexed to 4:25 to give FOX flexibility in the late afternoon window. For example, if the Philadelphia-Los Angeles Rams game is not close or ends quickly, the entire country will see the remainder of the Seattle-Jacksonville game. So while Seattle-Jacksonville is originally available to a similar sized audience as it would have been at 1 pm, the ending of the game – at least – has the potential to be viewed by the entire country.

- Defensive coordinator Todd Wash on Ramsey and fellow cornerback A.J. Bouye potentially moving around to defend the middle of the field against Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin and tight end Jimmy Graham:

"We do what we do. That's another thing we learned from [Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll]. We do what we do, we put our players in a position to be successful and let them play."

- Special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis on Corey Grant's recent kickoff return success:

"On that team, it's really the opportunities. Because of the new rule, the way it's been the last few years, it's hard to get returns and to get 'smart returns.' There are some guys who are taking it out nine [yards] deep and some guys are breaking [big runs] from nine [yards] deep [in the end zone] too. Corey had a 30-yard return the other day and we didn't block a soul to be honest with you and he really did a great job on that one. He's done a good job, and hopefully, we can get some more for him this week."

- Quarterback Blake Bortles on seeing former Jaguars lineman Luke Joeckel this week:

“I think quarterback-offensive lineman relationships are always a rather good one. He played golf with me sometimes and we did all that. He was a good friend the three years I was with him, so it will be good to see him and catch up with him.”
