Jags take down the Raiders 27-20 🏈

DUUUVAL! The losing streak is over as the Jags top the Raiders!

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars played host to the Las Vegas Raiders in an AFC showdown Sunday at TIAA Bank Field.

The boys took home the win 27-20, ending a five game losing streak.

The Jaguars came into today's game at 2-6, while the Raiders came in at 2-5 following a 24-0 loss at New Orleans last Sunday.

The Jaguars won the opening coin toss but deferred giving the Raiders the ball first. Jaguars defensive end Dawuane Smoot sacked Raiders quarterback Derek Carr to force a three and out. Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence hooked up with Marvin Jones Jr. and Christian Kirk for a couple nice passes on the Jags next drive but a fumble gave the ball back to Las Vegas. Derek Carr hit Davante Adams for a 25-yard touchdown pass on the Raiders next drive to make it 7-0 Las Vegas. The Jaguars then went three and out from their own 8-yard line and punted back to the Raiders who were up 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The Raiders went up 10-0 at the start of the second quarter thanks to a 38-yard Daniel Carlson field goal. After another Jaguars three and out, the Raiders put together a nice drive capped off by Derek Carr’s 38-yard touchdown pass to Davante Adams to make it 17-0 Raiders. The Jaguars then went on a 10-play, 75-yard drive which ended in a Travis Etienne Jr. one yard rushing touchdown to make it 17-7 Raiders. On the Raiders next drive, Las Vegas would take it into Jaguars territory but end up settling for another 38-yard Daniel Carlson field goal to make it 20-7 Raiders. The Jaguars moved the ball down the field before halftime and closed out the first half with a 44-yard Riley Patterson field goal to make it 20-10 Raiders at halftime.

The Jaguars opened the second half with a drive down the field ending in a Trevor Lawrence to Christian Kirk touchdown pass to make it 20-17 Raiders. On the Raiders ensuing drive, Jaguars safety Andre Cisco almost picked off Derek Carr on third down, but the Jags got the ball back. After a long drive down the field that chewed some clock, Travis Etienne Jr. ran it in from 5 yards out to give the Jaguars their first lead of the game, 24-20 over the Raiders at the start of the fourth quarter.

Neither team could get much going for most of the fourth quarter. Riley Patterson’s field goal attempt with a little over three minutes left in the game hit the right upright and the score remained 24-20 Jaguars. Derek Carr’s fourth down pass on the Raiders next possession went off the fingertips of Hunter Renfrow and the Jaguars got the ball back with 2:25 left in the game. Riley Patterson nailed a 48-yard field goal with 1:03 left in the game to make it 27-20 Jaguars. Devin Lloyd’s interception with about 10 seconds left sealed the win for the Jaguars as they hung on to beat the Las Vegas Raiders 27-20.

The Jaguars moved to 3-6 with the win, breaking their five-game losing streak. Jacksonville will face the Chiefs next Sunday in Kansas City. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 1pm ET on CBS.
