Athlete of the Week: Hunter Guarino

Senior nose guard leads the way for undefeated Camden County

KINGSLAND, Ga. — The strength of Camden County's defense lies right down the middle, where they've returned several starters. It's a big reason the Wildcats are undefeated so far this season.

And one of those seniors, Hunter Guarino, is this week's Athlete of the Week.

This is Guarino's third year on the varsity squad, and he's tallied 12 tackles and seven quarterback hurries; the latter leads the team.

Guarino is a passionate student-athlete: his favorite subject is social studies and he hopes to become either an athletic trainer or NFL Coach.

He's well on his way to doing that, his coach says, because of how strong a leader he is now.

"He gets after it every day," head coach Bob Sphire said. "[Guarino] comes to practice with his lunchbox, ready to go to work.

"He's an inspirational leader because he's a little bit of an undersized guy. But man, he plays with a big heart."
