Tim Tebow to be inducted in University of Florida's Ring of Honor

Jacksonville native and Gators great Tim Tebow will be inducted into the University of Florida Football's Ring of Honor, the program announced Wednesday.

Jacksonville native and Gators great Tim Tebow will be inducted into the University of Florida Football's Ring of Honor, the program announced Wednesday.

Tebow's name will be unveiled and displayed in the North Endzone of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on October 6, according to a release from the school.

The Gators won two National Championships while Tebow was on the roster. He also won the 2007 Heisman Trophy while at Florida.

Tebow posted a 36-6 career record with the Gators. He finished his career with five NCAA, 14 SEC and 28 UF records during his time in Gainesville.

He was the first player in NCAA history to rush and pass for at least 20 touchdowns in a season.

Prior to joining the Gators, Tebow played football at Allen D. Nease High School. He currently plays baseball for the New York Mets' Double-A team, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
