If you haven't heard his name, you will soon enough.
Corey Walker is a four-star forward out of Bishop Snyder, and he is making quite the jump on the college recruitment front. The junior is the fifth-rated player in his class in the state of Florida, and he already has 22 offers -- including offers from Florida, Florida State and Georgia.
"I think now every gym he steps in, everyone knows who he is," Bishop Snyder head basketball coach Vince Martin said. "People that were in the basketball world -- AAU -- they knew who he was. But now regular people know who he is."
Corey is only a junior, so he's far from reached his full potential.
"I think [college coaches] see in me that I can pretty much do anything," Walker said. "I can bring the ball up the court, I can pass the ball, play defense, block shots, get rebounds. I can play any position"
"His ball-handling has gotten a lot better. His leadership is getting better," Martin added. "His motor was always a big thing, but now he plays harder. A lot harder."
That, combined with Walker's fun-loving personality, have been critical for a young, Bishop Snyder team that has begun the year 4-3. The Cardinals head to another, national showcase this weekend when they travel to Lakeland.
