JACKSONVILLE, Fla.---Our Athlete of the Week comes to us from Mandarin High School - but that's not where his story began.

Amer Iriskic, the senior captain of the Mustangs boy's soccer team, was actually born in Bosnia.

He lived in a small war-torn town.

His family moved to the United States when he was just two-years-old to escape the civil war going on in his country.

Fast forward to today, after three seasons and a trip to the final four with the Mustangs..

He's hoping to play soccer at the next level.

For him, the opportunity is a result of that tough decision his parents made 15 years ago.

If you know of a student-athlete who is doing well in the sport or sports they play and in the classroom and should be recognized as our athlete of the week.
