Transportation driver claims Silver Airways won't pay for services already provided

JACKSONVILLE, Fl -- Daniel Stanko, a Navy Veteran, remembers what he was doing when he received a call from Silver Airlines.

"I was actually going to the airport to get an elderly couple," he said.

The call was a request for im to pick up one of its passengers, he agreed and it has been a fight ever since.

"I continue to fight because it is the principle," he said.

Recently during my I'm Telling Ken listening session at Pita Pit, Stanko showed up with complaint and documents in hand.

The surprise in his complaint was the date of service; two years ago.

"I provided a service to Silver Airways in May of 2016," said Stanko.

The airlines which travels between Florida and the Bahamas hired him to drive a passenger from Jacksonville International Airport to New Port Richey

"They said they would pay up to $400 but I charged them $350," he said.

Stanko started his business, Any Occasion Transportation, nine years ago. He said when you're self employed, every dime counts.

He showed us copies of his invoices and his emails.

Stanko said eventually he was told the person handling his claim is no longer employed with Silver Airways.

"Ever since then it has been phone silence," said Stanko.

It was the first time he had provided services to Silver Airways and he said it is the last.

"It wasn't an easy transfer," said Stanko. "I did this at ten clock at night after working all day and got home 6:15 in the morning."

When services are provided, payment is expected. He wants Silver Airways to do what is right

"I guess they feel they can get away with it, or they don't care to pay their bills, I don't know," he said.

On Your Side reached out to Silver Airways via emails and phone calls and so far no response.

But a check of the airlines complaint history revealed 77 complaints with the Better Business Bureau and on the websites Skytrax and Airline ratings, Silver Airways is rated two out of ten.

Stanko next move is to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Transportation which oversees the airlines industry.
