JACKSONVILLE, FL -- It is Wednesday, so that means it is time for our Teacher of the Week. This week it is Diana Monkouski. She is a 5th grade science teacher at Longbranch Elementary in Duval County.
She has been teaching for 3 years as part of Teach For America. She is a high energy teacher and her students say she is like that every single day! Ms. Monkouski says she is a true believer that no matter a child’s zip code, they should have access to a good education.
Here is her advice to any first year teachers out there.
"My number 1 thing is really honing in classroom management I think that sets the stone for your classroom. Your kids know what to expect from you on a daily basis. If they know there are rewards and compliments in place I think the rest falls into place," Monkouski said.
She says the best part of teaching to her is seeing the light bulb moment in her students!
