The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office has received information related to one of the two recent traffic stops that sparked warning of a police imposter.

The traffic stop which occurred in St. Johns County has been determined to be a law enforcement detective from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, according to SJCSO.

JSO officers have authority and legal jurisdiction to conduct traffic stops in St. Johns County.

SJC Officer Chuck Mulligan says they are confident saying there there was never an impersonation case in St. Johns County.

The community should remain alert on the second traffic stop that occurred in Duval County, as it is not yet resolved. The subject was wearing a tan uniform, which is not recognized as local law enforcement attire.
