According to a Facebook post made at by the Levy County Sheriff's Office (LCSO), Chiefland Middle/High School has been given an “ALL CLEAR” after a suspicious person was reported on campus.
According to the post, all Chiefland campuses have been searched and secured. Deputies say that a student reported seeing a person trespassing on campus but the person was not located in any of the buildings. Over 35 members of law enforcement from Levy, Chiefland Police Department and Gilchrist Sheriff's Office responded to this call.
Deputies say there was never an active threat nor was there any mention of an active shooter threatening these campuses.
LCSO originally posted about the lockdown on Facebook around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday saying that more than 10 law enforcement officers were on scene attempting to locate and identify the individual reported.
The students have since resumed a normal class schedule.
