Jacksonville City Council members Reginald Brown and Katrina Brown have been suspended from the City Council by Governor Rick Scott on Friday following their Thursday indictments for fraud and money laundering.

The Governor has yet to appoint a replacement. It is unclear at this time if he will appoint a replacement for the council members.

City council president Anna Brosche told First Coast News that if the positions remain vacant, there won't be a special election unless if Katrina Brown and Reggie Brown resign. If not, the next election for the city council seats is slated for March 19, 2019 and the winners will take their posts on July 1, 2019, she said.
