Duval County finishes ballot recount, Bill Nelson gained 54 votes

Duval County has finished its hand recount for midterm elections, adding 54 votes to Democrat Bill Nelson, according to Chief Elections Assistant Robert Phillips of the Supervisor of Elections Office.

Duval County has finished its hand recount for the race for senator, adding 54 votes to Democrat Bill Nelson, according to Chief Elections Assistant Robert Phillips of the Supervisor of Elections Office.

A canvassing meeting is being held Saturday to process military and overseas votes, the results of which were due Friday, Phillips says.

Those votes will not be included in the most recent recount but will be included in the final recount, according to Phillips.

Nelson is running against Republican candidate Rick Scott in a contentious race for Senator.
