A Jacksonville man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly stabbed a woman at random multiple times at a Northside motel.
Andrew Maurice Scott, 30, was arrested at the River City Inn at 10888 Harts Rd. and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Around 8:30 a.m., a Jacksonville Sheriff's officer found the victim in the front office with multiple stab wounds on her neck and back. She told police that Scott was on the second floor.
Police located Scott in a room and took him into police custody without incident. They found a knife in his backpack, but aren't sure if it is the same knife that was used, police records state.
The victim told police that she never had contact with Scott and didn't know why he reportedly attacked her. She said she was sweeping the hallway walkway along the second floor when Scott approached her with a knife, pushed her down and stabbed her, JSO said.
JSO reviewed surveillance video and say the footage matches the victim's account.
The victim isn't suffering from life-threatening injuries.
