Man shot in the back at the Jacksonville Beach Pier, marks 2nd shooting over the weekend

Witnesses told police that two people, a man and woman, were seen feeling the area at the time of the shooting in the 400 block of the Ocean Front.

The Jacksonville Beach Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened early morning Monday.

Police say it happened around 3:30 a.m. near the Jacksonville Beach Pier. Officers responded to the scene and found a man laying on the beach in the 400 block of the Ocean Front with a single gunshot wound to the back.

He was transported to the hospital.

Witnesses told police that two people, a man and woman, were seen feeling the area.

This marked the second shooting that happened in Jacksonville Beach this weekend. No one was injured from the other shooting in the 200 block of 2nd Ave. N., but police say they found .380 shell casings.

Last week, there was a fatal shooting in Jacksonville Beach of an aspiring rapper, Leon D'shawn Bennett, 24. Police are searching for the shooter.
