Man charged with murder after hit-and-run crash in Baker County

Troopers say the man struck a woman who was walking along the roadway.

A man has been charged with second-degree murder after he hit a pedestrian with his car then left the scene on Thursday, according to The Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say that Robert Jackson, 31, was driving north on SR-121 near Olsteen Road around 6 p.m. when he veered into the right shoulder of the road. That's when troopers say he struck a woman who was walking in the area.

The woman was later identified as Christina Knox, 36, and was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers say.

After hitting Knox, Troopers say that Jackson left the scene and went to his house. He was later found and charged with second-degree murder.
