A woman tells First Coast News she was sleeping when an SUV crashed into her Northside home Saturday costing her thousands of dollars in damages.

Hughes is feeling sad after the crash. She’s thankful that she was not the one hit by the car.

“If it had been two rooms down, we would’ve been killed,” Hughes said.

The woman, Donna Hughes, says the crash happened at around 3 a.m. and she found the car inside her living room and the driver nowhere in sight. The exact cost of the damage has not been released but Hughes says it's in the thousands. Hughes says she does have homeowners' insurance to help cover the costs.

"Things even as precious as all my stuff was and as hard to come by and as hard as I worked to get it, you can replace those things, sort of," Hughes said, "but you can't replace your life."

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene overnight, towing the vehicle.

No arrests were made and there is currently no description of the driver.
