Unexplained: A boy took video of his pool, but keep your eye on the water

We're scratching our heads about this one. An above-ground pool appears to have waves, but an expert tells us it wasn't an earthquake.

UPDATE: We have a possible explanation from the 12 News audience; was it a phenomenon known as a seiche?

PHOENIX - We're scratching our heads about this one. A Phoenix resident captured video of what appears to be water sloshing around a pool.

The yet-unexplained instance was caught on camera by 10-year-old Lukus Irwin. He was awakened by the pool splashing at about 9:15 p.m. on May 5.

Irwin told his mother about the noise and they went outside along with his grandmother. The adults looked in the above-ground pool, walked around it and didn't see anything that could have caused the waves.

The home is near 91st Avenue and Indian School Road.

There was an earthquake reported in Arizona on May 5, but it was at 6:49 a.m., in Littlefield, Arizona -- hundreds of miles away. Michael Conway with the Arizona Geological Survey says an earthquake didn't cause the pool waves.

Irwin's mother, Cynthia, said they could only hear crickets at the time, and they are too far from Luke Air Force to hear those missions.
