House catches fire, two people struck by lightning in Atlantic Beach

Atlantic Beach police and emergency personnel are reporting that two men were struck by lightning at 19th Street and Beach Avenue on Monday.

Monday's afternoon thunderstorms caused destruction in a couple of incidents in Atlantic Beach.

Atlantic Beach police and emergency personnel are reporting that two men were struck by lightning at 19th Street and Beach Avenue on Monday.

The incident occurred Monday afternoon, with both victims suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

They were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Emergency personnel also responded to a house struck by lightning in the 300 block of South Oceanwalk Drive. Everyone inside the home made it out safely, but the road is still closed.

UPDATE: A GoFundMe has been established for the homeowners of the house struck by lightning.

Lorrie and Bill, 89 and 91, have been married 70 years, the GoFundMe site --written by Lorrie's niece-- reads.

$2,345 of the $25,000 goal has been raised so far.
