Two pedestrians seriously injured after being hit by vehicle in Jacksonville Beach

The Jacksonville Beach Police Department said the individuals were on 3rd Street in front of Jacksonville Beach's City Hall when they were struck.

Two pedestrians are seriously injured Saturday after being hit by a vehicle in Jacksonville Beach, according to police.

The Jacksonville Beach Police Department said around 1:40 a.m. a silver four-door Chevrolet was traveling west on 1st Ave. N. As the vehicle entered the intersection it struck a white truck then veered east striking a bus stop located at the intersection of 1st Ave. N. and 3rd St. N.

Two pedestrians were sitting on the bench, police said. The individuals were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The occupants of the Chevrolet fled the scene on foot, but police were able to locate the. they said.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and faces multiple charges according to police. 

At this time, no further information is known.
