16-year-old Raines student shot outside Terry Parker, Ribault football game; in stable condition

JSO believes that this shooting was possibly gang-related and the victim was targeted by the suspects.

JACKSONVILLE, Florida — A 16-year-old Raines High School student was shot outside the football gates at Terry Parker High School during a spring football game vs. Ribault High School Friday night. 

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the boy was walking in the parking lot near the football field of Terry Parker located at 7301 Parker School Road when he was approached by a group of guys and shot.

Police said the incident happened around 9:04 p.m., just minutes prior to the end of the football game. 

After being shot, the victim went to the ticket booth where he collapsed, police said.

JSO said witnesses helped him get to to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, where he was then transported to UF Health.

He is in critical but stable condition, JSO said.

JSO believes this shooting was possibly gang-related and the victim was targeted by the suspects.

JSO made an arrest in this incident Thursday, May 23.
