PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — The Putnam County Sheriff's Office is pleading for the community's help in searching for a missing and "possibly endangered" 20-year-old woman who disappeared over a week ago.
Nyeisha Ariona Nelson, 20, of Crescent City, was reported missing by her family Wednesday afternoon after she was not seen for several days, deputies said.
Putnam County authorities found Nelson's car in a wooded area on a road in Fruitland Thursday.
According to family members, Nelson picked up her daughter on Feb. 10 and the next morning took her child to school.
Deputies say a neighbor reported seeing Nelson in the yard of her home on Ohio Street before leaving in her 2008 grey Honda Accord.
Nelson is a well-known and loved local hairdresser in her community, the sheriff's office said.
Friends and family members are concerned because she has not reached out to her child in days, which is not normal behavior for Nelson, according to authorities. Family members said she stays in contact several times a day, but has not made contact with anyone since Feb. 11.
The 20-year-old was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, grey shorts and carrying a purse.
Deputies are urging anyone who may have seen Nelson or her car specifically between Feb. 11- 17, to come forward with any information you might have.
