Pilot lands on Jekyll Island beach after running out of gas

A First Coast News viewer caught the aftermath of a pilot's emergency landing on Jekyll Island's Glory Beach Friday.

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. — A First Coast News viewer caught the aftermath of a pilot's emergency landing on Jekyll Island's Glory Beach Friday.

A Jekyll Island Authority spokesperson said the pilot, the lone person on the plane, made the landing because he ran out of gas and could not make it to the nearest airport.

After landing safely on the beach, the Jekyll Island Airport sent a crew to deliver the pilot gas.

The pilot is scheduled to soon take off and land at the St. Simons Airport.
