Orange park pet store owner responds to critics after viral posts about ‘sick’ puppies at his shop

A post on social media claiming puppies were sick in a new Orange Park puppy went viral with over 1,000 local shares.

The owner of the Orange Park puppy store that went viral on social media due to a post alleging its puppies were sick has responded to the controversy.

The post which was shared over 1,000 times, alleged that BFF Puppies had sick dogs and they were kept in too small of an environment.

The owner of BFF Puppies, Michael Kassnoff, said he is not surprised at the popularity of the post alleging the puppies are sick but assures that the dogs are all well cared for. He said social media is a big part of what they do and there are hundreds of posts with positive comments from those who have purchased puppies or visited the store.

"BFF puppies is a combination of years of design, engineering, development, and research to provide the best possible and safest, healthiest environment for our puppies until they go home with their forever families here in our community," said Kassnoff.

The puppies are seen by a veterinarian weekly, fed five-star food, up to date with all their shots and vaccinations and are given vitamins to help them in their various stages of growth and development, according to Kassnoff.

He said no one has ever returned a puppy on account of it being sick, furthermore, he said there are no sick puppies at BFF Puppies.

When puppies are purchased, a voucher is given to the new puppy owner to visit the vet for free to a wellness visit to make sure the dog is acclimating to its new environment and that it is healthy.

All puppies from USDA breeders throughout the US said Kassnoff. "We go through a very concise selective process, we look at registration, pedigrees, family histories, etc, and we chose what we feel would be the best companions for our community here in Jacksonville."

BFF Puppies opened in January of 2018.
