Replicas of Christopher Columbus' two ships are sailing to Fernandina Beach in April.

The ships are due to dock at Fernandina Harbor Marina, 3 South Front St., on April 23, but public tours won't open until April 24. They will last until May 3. Tours run from 9 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets start at $6.50 until $8.50.

The Nina was built by hand and, Archeology Magazine has called it the most historically correct replica ever constructed of a Columbus ship. The Columbus Foundation owns the ships and opens them as a “sailing museum” to educate the public, especially students, on the caravel, a Portugese ship that Columbus and others used during the period, according to the Florida Times-Union.

For more information on the ships, visit the website www.ninapinta.org or @ColumbusShips on Twitter.
