A man believed to have shot his girlfriend in the stomach Tuesday has been captured by the Nassau County Sheriff's Office.
The man, 61-year-old Billy Johnson, allegedly shot his 51-year-old girlfriend in the stomach.
She was found with a gunshot wound on Catalina Drive in Nassauville at 4 p.m. after deputies responded to a reported shooting. The victim was airlifted to UF Health in Jacksonville with serious injuries, according to NCSO.
Johnson will be charged with attempted homicide.
Johnson is also a registered sex offender following convictions for sexual battery of a victim over 12 years old in 1998 and 2002 in Nassau County, as well as a 2008 conviction for failing to register as a sex offender, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
