The presidential election has been going on, conservatively, for 87 years. There are more political memes than there are American citizens. And Facebook has become nearly unusable amidst the presidential squabbling. Weighing the merits of each candidate is critical in our political process, but let's face it, sometimes you just want to stalk your ex and look at endless pictures of babies and weddings on Facebook.
So take a break. If you use Google Chrome, you can block most references to either or both candidates and reclaim your sanity. Here's how:
Make Facebook great again ... without Donald Trump
The highest-rated Trump blocker is Remove Donald Trump from Facebook. It purports to do exactly that, but notes that it will still include pictures of Trump, or uses of only his first or last name.
Reviewers say, "I haven't seen a Trump reference since installation" and call the extension "a public service."
If you want to get rid of Trump from across the web, not just Facebook, you can try the Trump Filter. It claims to "identify parts of a web page likely to contain Donald Trump and erase them from the Internet." However, some users say it can screw up other aspects of your browsing experience, so use at your own risk.
Stronger without Hillary Cinton
If you'd like to see less about Clinton, there are options for you, too. Hillary Blocker says it will "gently filter and remove Hillary Clinton from webpages, Facebook, and YouTube." How you do that gently, we're not sure, but that's what they say. A reviewer calls it "The only Hillary Filter that works!"
If you dislike political dynasties, there is another filter that will remove not just references to Hillary, but references to Bill and Chelsea Clinton and Jeb, George H.W. and George W. Bush.
Remember, you can uninstall these at any time.
