Local law enforcement conducting active shooter drill at Bradford Middle School

The drill will be conducted on Oct. 15 and is a part of the district's comprehensive safety and security program.

Local law enforcement agencies will conduct an active shooter drill at Bradford Middle School Thursday, Oct. 15, according to a release by the Bradford County School District.

During the drills, students will remain in their classrooms until law enforcement tells them to evacuate, the release says. They will then be transported from the middle school via a bus. Normal operations will resume once all students have returned to the school.

All other Bradford county public schools will practice a period of lockdown during the scenario, but will not be evacuated. No one will be allowed on campus during the drills and roads adjacent to Bradford Middle school may be briefly closed to traffic, according to the release.

The Starke Police Department, Lawtey Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, Bradford County Sheriff's Office Bradford Emergency Medical Services, Starke Fire Department and County Fire Department will be responding as part of the district's comprehensive safety and security program.
