The 2010 murder of 17-year-old Makia Coney by two schoolmates plays out Monday night on Lifetime Movie Network's "Killer Kids" series.

The TV series journeys into the lives of children who commit murder. Using eyewitnesses, psychologists and re-enactments, LMN explores what motivates a child to engage in horrific, criminal acts.

We spoke to JSO's Bobby Bowers, he was the lead detective on this case four years ago, who says he still remembers this case in great detail.

"Well, it was probably the most heinous crime I ever worked," said the 19 year JSO veteran. "The brutality of it, the ages of the victim and the shooters makes it memorable."

He says Lifetime did reach out to him for information on the case, but he couldn't participate.

However, he does say shows like this may serve to glorify the people he worked hard to bring to justice.

"Certainly it does," he said. "It gives them attention and so often that's exactly what they crave."

He was honored as the JSO police officer of the year in 2011 for his work on this case, in getting the arrests and confessions from the shooters, 17-year-olds Connor Pridgen and Charles Southern.

He says he'll watch the show, but doesn't need actors portrayal of events he lived to jog his memory.

"Those type of cases, you never forget, never forget."
