Men shot each other in double shooting in Southwest Jacksonville, police say

JSO said the shooting happened in the 5700 block of San Juan Avenue.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating after they say two men shot each other during an altercation Sunday afternoon.

JSO said the shooting happened in the 5700 block of San Juan Avenue shortly after 3 p.m.

When officers arrived on the scene they found a man on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the leg.

The man was losing a lot of blood, but first responders were able to save his life and transport him to a local hospital, police said. He is currently in stable condition.

The second man involved ran from the scene with a gunshot wound to his foot/ ankle. He was later apprehended by police and taken to the hospital, JSO said.

At this time, all the people involved in the shooting are in custody.

Police said they don't know which man is the suspect but believe the two got into a fight with each other and both of the men shot each other.

Investigators recovered one weapon from the scene.

Officers are currently speaking to witnesses and reviewing surveillance video as they continue to investigate the shooting.
