Jacksonville man turns $10 into $2 million via scratch-off game

One lucky Jacksonville man turned $10 into a couple million by purchasing a scratch-off with The Florida Lottery.

The Florida Lottery says that Akram Awad, 42, claimed a $2 million top prize from the $2,000,000 CASHWORD Scratch-Off game at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee on Monday. 

He chose to receive his winnings in annual installments of $80,000 a year for 25 years.

Awad purchased his winning ticket from In and Out, located at 2110 South Highway 17 in Crescent City. The retailer will receive a $4,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

The $10 Scratch-Off game, $2,000,000 CASHWORD, launched in August 2017 and features six top prizes of $2 million and over 6,000 prizes between $1,000 to $2 million. The overall odds of winning are one-in-3.38.
