JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville is the 12th fastest growing city in the nation, according to a new U.S. Census Bureau report.

The statistics released Thursday show that between July 1, 2014, and July 1, 2015, Jacksonville's population increased by 13,069 people.

New York, the fastest growing city on the report, had a population increase of 55,211 people.

Jacksonville's total population in 2015 was 868,031 people.

Jacksonville was the only city in Florida on the report. Jacksonville city was ranked 12th on the report of the "15 Most Populous Cities on July 1, 2015."

Texas had five cities on the list of the 15 cities with the largest numeric increase. Houston increased by 40,032 people between July 1, 2014, and July 1, 2015. Those five cities in Texas were in the top eight spots.
