St. Johns County issues mandatory Monday morning evacuations for Zones A, B

Zones A and B include the entire City of St. Augustine, St. Augustine Beach and those living on waterfront properties or flood-prone areas.

St. Johns County has issued mandatory evacuation orders for those living in Zones A and B effective 8 a.m. Monday morning.

Zones A and B include the entire City of St Augustine, St. Augustine Beach and those living on waterfront properties or flood-prone areas. They have also issued the mandatory evacuations for those in Hastings and Flagler Estates. 

Gov. DeSantis announced this information during his 1:30 p.m. news conference from Tallahassee that is currently ongoing.

During an evacuation, all mobile home residents are required to evacuate “regardless of their evacuation zone,” according to the St. Johns County website.

The county will open six shelters starting at 8 a.m. Monday. Additional shelters will be opened as needed. 

Shelters opening Monday:

Pacetti Bay Middle School 

  • 245 Meadowlark Ln. (Special needs)

Timberlin Creek Elementary School

  • 555 Pine Tree Ln. (Pet-friendly)

Southwoods Elementary

  • 4750 State Road 206. (Pet-friendly)

Pedro Menendez High School

  • 600 State Road 206 West. (General population)

Bartram Trail High School

  • 7399 Longleaf Pine Pkwy. (General population)

Osceola Elementary

  • 1605 Osceola Elementary Rd. (General population)

The shelters will only provide a safe place to wait out the storm. Residents are responsible for bringing their own supplies for the days they will be staying there. The sheriff’s office recommends bringing the following items with you when staying at a shelter:

  • Bedding, such as sleeping bags or air mattresses, pillows and blankets
  • Five days worth of food, medication, diapers or other personal care items
  • Insulin and a cooler if you are diabetic
  • Extra clothing
  • Books, magazines, cards, entertainment
  • Lawn chairs
  • Flashlights with extra batteries
  • Manual can opener
  • Personal identification and any important paperwork
