Counties start lifting Hurricane Dorian evacuations, curfews

As Hurricane Dorian moves away from the First Coast, some evacuation orders and curfews are being cancelled.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Counties along the First Coast are starting to rescind evacuation and curfew orders as Hurricane Dorian moves away from Florida. 

Here's the latest look at where each county stands: 

Duval County

Mayor Curry and the Jax Sheriff's Office tweeted that mandatory evacuations were lifted at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Clay County

At 5 p.m. Wednesday, Clay County rescinded the evacuation order issued for Evacuation Zones A and B and any low-lying areas or vulnerable housing.

All Clay County general population and special needs shelters also closed Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Camden County

A curfew will be imposed beginning Tuesday at 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. daily, until further notice, for all areas of Camden County east of I-95 for the areas that are under a mandatory evacuation due to Hurricane Dorian.

Flagler County

Flagler County officials have lifted curfew and evacuation orders as of Wednesday at 12:45 p.m. Zones A, B and F were included in the original order. 

Glynn County

Glynn County and the entire City of Brunswick enacted a curfew beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. That includes St. Simons Island, the City of Brunswick and all areas East of Interstate 95.

Jekyll Island Authority also instated a curfew and closed the Jekyll Island Causeway starting at 8 p.m. on Sept. 3.

Nassau County

Bridges are reopened in Nassau County as of 2:30 p.m., although a curfew has been reinstated for the county from 8 p.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. Thursday.

St. Johns County 

The curfew and mandatory evacuation in St. Johns County were lifted effective 3 p.m. Wednesday. All emergency shelters demobilized on Wednesday afternoon.

All St. Johns County government offices and county schools will reopen on Friday, Sept. 6.

Atlantic Beach

The evacuation order in Atlantic Beach was lifted at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Officials ask that residents beware of minor street flooding and stay out of the water.
