Two experimental CJ-6A planes flying in a formation over Pierce County, Ga. Friday afternoon collided, aviation authorities say.

One person died in the plane wreck.

One of the planes crashed and the other landed safely at Waycross-Ware County Airport after the 4 p.m. crash, says Kathleen Bergen, spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Authority.

The pilots were the only people on the planes.

Their names and conditions have yet to be released.

The FAA will investigate and the National Transportation and Safety Board will find out what caused the crash.
