General Electric to layoff nearly 150 people in Jacksonville

A total of 147 employees will be laid off in the Finance and Insurance departments.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Nearly 150 employees who work at General Electric's south Jacksonville facility, located at 12854 Kenan Dr. Ste. 201, will be laid off in January.

The State of Florida filed a notice about the layoffs, which is posted online. A total of 147 employees will be laid off in the Finance and Insurance departments.

This comes as GE plans layoffs across the country in an effort to downsize.

The layoffs are expected to happen in January 2019.
